The biggest standout accessory this season is undoubtable over the knee boots! And, ode to Stuart Weitzman, who mastered the art of this thigh-high trend with the notorious ‘Highland Boot’. If I am being completely honest, I was a little intimidated when I saw the boot marching down the fall runway last February, but after trying them on I quickly learned what all the fuss was about. They are comfortable, warm, and surprisingly slenderizing – yes, even on my 5’3” frame!

While I couldn’t stomach investing in a pair of season boots, I found a less expensive alternative: over the knee socks! They create the same sultry illusion without breaking the bank. However, for those interested in boots, I have found an identical style by Ivanka Trump for less than $200, here. I’ve tried them on several times, and find them to be extremely comfortable!

For this outfit, I opted for simple accessories like this pair of Chanel earrings that I made. Yes, I really made them! The idea came one evening while surfing Ebay for vintage designer pieces, as a result of reading Sophia Amoruso’s book, ‘Girl Boss’. If you are an entrepreneur I highly encourage you read this book. It was then that I stumbled across vintage Chanel buttons. My first thought was, “Who would recycle old buttons?”, and then it hit me: ME!

Once the earrings arrived in the mail, I used pliers to remove the shank on the back of the buttons. Then I used super glue to adhere these earring posts’ from Amazon to the back of each button! Despite being a little heavy (I assume it’s because they are made of vintage materials), I received so many compliments on them, and I always love seeing the look on others face when I explain that I made them! To balance this otherwise edgy look I added a subtle black ribbon around my pony tail. Traditionally, my style is more tailored and feminine therefore, it was fun to spice things up with over the knee socks and a touch of leather accessories!
