A little over five weeks ago, our daughter turned two years old, and I am still sitting here wondering how that is possible. This year was so much fun to celebrate her birthday because she seemed to understand the significance of the day. She woke up that morning saying “Happy Birthday Collins” and “I’m 2!” Leading up to her party she would babble about cake, and balloons, and her friends coming over to play, and I was so excited for her to finally experience that joy. It was a sunny, cheery, perfectly chaotic party for our sweet girl, and I never take these moments of celebration for granted. Below is everything I did and used to make her second birthday party special and on theme.

When thinking of a theme, I immediately landed on Peppa Pig, as it’s Collins’ favorite program on TV! Luckily, Ashley Ross paved the way for the party’s decor, having thrown the cutest Peppa Pig themed birthday party for her youngest daughter. I borrowed nearly every detail from the cute pastel stools to the Peppa Pig house prop.

To set the tone for the theme, I tapped the sisters over at Paper & Paste Co. to design her birthday party invitations. They did the most wonderful job and created the sweetest Peppa and friends invite for Collins that read, “Let’s Jump & Play, It’s Collins’ Second Birthday!” It exceeded all my expectations. They created the adorable food tags, too.

Speaking of food, we served a menu that was perfectly on theme! It included: Peppa’s pig tail pasta, George’s dinosaur chicken nuggets, Daddy Pig’s fruit salad, Mrs. Rabbit’s vegetable patch of assorted veggies, pigs in a blanket, Carol Cow’s charcuterie spread and muddy puddles chocolate pudding. I used Charlotte local baker extraordinaire Sweet Indulgence by Maite to bake Collins’ cake. The cake was almond flavor and oh so scrumptious!

For party favors, I had Bear Paper & Co. make homemade Peppa Pig party boxes for all the little guests! We filled them with bubbles, Play-Doh, candy, chalk, stickers and more. They were the most precious takeaways.

For entertainment, I had Little Hearts Mobile Play set-up their Montessori-style children’s playground. It offered a pikler triangle, climbing wall, slide and ball pit with balls in pastel colors to match the party’s decor. This provided a great activity for the kids.

For decor, I focused all my attention on the children’s seating area. We built and painted a Peppa Pig house prop from a single sheet of plywood. The quirky stools are from IKEA, and we used spray paint to make them perfectly pastel. The Posh Balloon did a fantastic job with the balloon display. Everything from the soft pastel balloon arch to the floating rainbows were perfection! Our neighbor and good friend made the floral boot bouquets. She used spray paint (the same colors used to paint the children’s stools) to color baby’s breath in shades of pink, mint, purple and yellow. A sweet nod to Peppa and George’s favorite game, jumping up and down in muddy puddles. All other supplies and pieces are linked below.

A big thank you to Jenn Otero for capturing these moments that I will cherish forever. Having her photograph the party allowed us to simply host and enjoy, and what a gift that was. I didn’t touch my phone all morning, and knew she was handling it beautifully.

It was a perfect afternoon and so incredibly meaningful for Justin and I as parents to celebrate our little Collins Drake’s second year of life. I wonder what I’ll do for her third birthday! xx
