We had our first taste of cold weather during our recent trip to Wyoming, where we also saw the first snow of the season! For our trip I pulled out all the layers – coats, vests, scarfs, gloves and boots. I loved it though, and couldn’t get enough of the brisk, fresh mountain air. Having heard fall was an underrated time of the year to visit the West, Justin and I anchored our early-October visit in Wyoming where the bright, yellow Aspen trees were at their peak. There we stayed at the beautiful Amangani resort, which I wrote about in a detailed post linked here for those interested.
Packing for this trip required a bit of planning, or more so than usual. Knowing that over the course of twelve days we would experience four varying climates, layers were *key*.
When packing I pulled from pieces that I already owned, like this camel and navy stripped turtleneck from J.Crew. I purchased it last season before our trip to Colorado where I paired it with hunter cords and a plaid scarf (see more here). J.Crew brought back this same turtleneck , but sadly it sold out before I could share this post. I searched for nearly an hour to find a similar option (after receiving so many messages about the top) and linked my findings here, here, here and here. There is a dress version of this stripped turtleneck that would look great paired with knee-high boots and a navy blazer with the sleeves turned-up.
This season Old Navy blew me away with their collection! They offered so many on-trend pieces including these camel mid-rise jeans! They’re incredibly comfortable and I own them in hunter, burgundy and black! They’re also very versatile in that they can easily be dressed up for a more professional occasion. They would be great with a dark wash chambray blouse and navy blazer, or vest, and Hunter Boots – similar to how I have styled them in today’s post. Given that J.Crew’s signature navy is a deeper hue, I opted for my black Hunter Boots.
