October is here and fall is the air, which means one thing… ’tis the season for couples to tie the knot!  Luckily for the bride her wardrobe options are planned well in advance; however, if you are like me you are probably wondering what you will wear!  Dressing for fall weddings can be tricky!  A lot of brides want some (or all!) of their wedding outdoors, so as a guest, you have to be prepared to wear something that is elegant, and yet provides enough coverage for chillier evenings.  This season there is a variety of ladylike dresses in vibrant colors like cobalt, moss green, and magenta; if you prefer neutral tones (timeless in my opinion), opt for gray or navy in modern silhouettes.  Personally, I try and avoid wearing black to a wedding. For me black is too morbid and corporate at the same time and doesn’t really scream, celebration.  If feel that you can achieve that same sleek elegant look wearing a solid colored solid frocks deep jewel tone hues.

Not only is it important to consider the weather, but dressing for the location is also key.  This past weekend I attended a wedding along the Outer Banks of the North Carolina coast and I chose to wear this peplum Kate Spade number, which was totally appropriate for a coastal nuptial (and it’s on sale!).  In several weeks however, I am attending are highlands weddings and plan on wearing a cape dress, which is am stoked about (I may or may not have been wearing around the house :).

On Thursday (10/9) I will be sharing a few of my favorite special occasion dresses for fall, as well as, give more advice on structures, color swatches, etc. on Twenty-Something blog, so please check it out!
